Italian mountain runner Francesco Puppi launches new training plan partnership with Vert.run

This week, Italian mountain runner
Francesco Puppi’s new training plan partnership with Vert.run was
announced.
Vert.run, the training platform for trail + ultra running, offers smart,
affordable training plans for all levels. Vert.run often collaborates with pro
trail runners like Lucy Bartholomew, Hillary Allen, Dylan Bowman, Ruth
Croft, and more to make affordable training plans available to runners at
every experience and income level—and the latest pro athlete plan
released is in collaboration with Francesco Puppi.
Francesco’s training plan is focused on building trail speed, a key skill for
mountain and ultrarunners. His workouts are rooted in his “any surface
available” training philosophy, which means that runners don’t always have
to train on the trails in order to become stronger, faster trail runners.
“To run fast in the mountains and on trails, you need to develop specific
skills–but you do not need to train in the mountains all the time,” says
Puppi. “Running uphill and downhill will absolutely develop your strength
and adaptability to the technical terrain and different grades, but will also
slow you down considerably. [In my new Vert.run training plan] we will keep
a focus on speed and transfer the fundamental qualities we can develop on
flat surfaces (also on the road!) to the trails, in order to make you a better,
faster runner.”
As COVID-19 continues to spread and races continue to be cancelled,
Vert.run offers structure and accountability through its smart training
platform.
About Vert.run, inc.:

mission is to provide free and affordable training plans to the trail
running masses, thus reducing overtraining and burnout.

level, training surface (flat vs. mountainous) and training volume.
• ” In early 2020, Vert.run began launching plans with professional
trail runners, making it possible for “normal” trail runners to train with
professional athletes at an affordable price.
